Job Description: Unity Gameplay Programmer (Part-Time, Remote – EMEA Timezone)
We are seeking a Unity-savvy gameplay programmer to help push our first title toward a playable milestone. Our game blends real-time arena combat with a deck-building layer, requiring every card played to feel snappy, balanced, and deadly in the heat of battle.
Responsibilities:
- Implement gameplay systems, including abilities, combat mechanics, and character controllers.
- Build and iterate on card-based combat mechanics within Unity.
- Optimize performance and debug gameplay issues to ensure smooth gameplay.
- Work with ScriptableObject-driven architecture for flexible and scalable systems.
- Collaborate using Git workflows in a fast-paced startup environment.
Requirements:
- Strong experience with Unity and C#.
- Proven ability to implement gameplay systems such as abilities, combat, and character controllers.
- Excellent performance optimization and debugging skills.
- Familiarity with ScriptableObject-driven architecture.
- Experience working collaboratively with Git workflows.
- Ability to work independently and iterate quickly.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with real-time multiplayer gameplay.
- Background in ability systems or card-based mechanics.
- Knowledge of animation systems and input handling in Unity.
- Experience shipping or contributing to a commercial game or playable prototype.
Additional Information:
- This is a part-time role, remote, with preference for candidates in the EMEA timezone.
- Clear estimation of hours per task is expected.
